We offer a broad mainstream curriculum which provides a thorough grounding in all of the National Curriculum core and foundation subjects. Each child's attainment is closely monitored and the three core subjects of Literacy, Numeracy and Science are regularly assessed. Pupils at Key Stage 1 and 2 take the National Standard Assessment Tests (SATs).
We believe that the visual and performing arts are an important and valuable part of every child's development, encouraging confidence and self-expression. Children receive teaching in music and art and take part in a variety of productions and concerts. Artwork is celebrated regularly through displays and an annual art exhibition.
Specialist teaching is provided throughout Orchard Close in physical education and we benefit greatly from the use of many Senior School facilities including the 25-metre indoor swimming pool where all pupils are taught to swim.
Educational visits are an important part of school life and can include a theatre workshop, day trip to the British Museum and residential trips both home and abroad. All Orchard Close pupils also have the opportunity to go skiing.
In Year 6 children benefit from a Transition Programme with some lessons taught by teachers in the Senior School using specialist facilities such as the Food Technology room and science laboratories. This process enables the children to gradually acclimatise themselves to life in the senior school.
Sibford School's nationally acclaimed Enhance Learning Programme Faculty has a remarkable record in enabling students to discover and reach their academic potential. Specialist staff and teaching facilities are available for children requiring additional support and for those with dyslexia.
